It rubs the lotion on its skin or it gets the hose again
Summer school started last Tuesday. Dr. Saxe (State and local government) is cool and I think he would be a fun teacher. Dr Tong (Thermodynamics) is somewhat the opposite. he is boring but I can't blame him much because it's just normal to the typeof subject he teaches, I guess. In Pol Science, we get to participate in the discussions. Today, he talked about Libertarianism (which he believes in) I like some of the ideas but very skeptical if it will ever work. It is about making losing the government control on tings it "shouldnt" be in such as economics and social issues. No school or economic management. Drugs would be legalized and stuff. Now, it's up to the ppl to be reponsible for their freedom. No public healthcare uch as medicare or medicaid. A person can drug himself but when he/she is so sick of it, no government is gonna pick him/her up. No government will save a persons butt who has been irresponsible for his sorry butt. If responsibility is not ingrained in him, it will be to others who doesnt wanna be like him. The main rule will be the survival of the fittest.
There are questions left unanwered for me though that really borders the philosophical. What if a child is born out of a poor family? It is not responsible for it's actions yet but it could suffer just because of the fate it was led to. Yes, we are animals that live and die as others but don't we have responsibility to help others too? Well, I believe libertarians agree here but for them, it is not the government's responsibility. One is ffree to help anyone he/she wants to anyway, in any democratic political structure.
This shook my beliefs and thoughts about running for president in the Philippines.
Anyway, i didn't do much after that. I just went to Walmart, got cash back from my salary and paid ebay thingies. I also got some BB's for nose weights.
Yesterday also, I got called in to work. I said I would IF i can go home by 11. David agreed so i proceed. It was fine but i realize I zone too slow. I think it's with my perfectionist nature that my pace is suffering where it is required. I need to work on that. Amazingly enough, we finished work almost exactly at 11 (5 till)! There was a nasty storm tho but it's good there was no hail damage on my car. Gus and company invited me to eat with them at IHOP but I declined for I wasnt hungry and I didn't want to spend money. I kinda regret it tho and prolly, next tie I would yielf.
Speaking of storm, there was a REALLY NASTY one last Tuesday night. We had a power outage for maybe 45 minutes one hour. It dawned on me how volatile the society is, or at least, I am without the simple things we learn to take for granted. Without electricity, there is no TV, no radio or computer. No light for me to do modelling. There is no telephone as well. Our idea of pastime is so hooked on one source that it's exclusion render the whole system unusable.
I used my cell to call Jan instead.
And Dr Saxe was telling us to get rid of cell phones that same morning.
