I would like to say that Eduard Model Accessories has the best service I have ever experienced in the modeling industry. The day before yesterday, I emailed them to ask how I can get a replacement for a film for my P-47D Academy kit. I was thinking they would direct me to a certain address or even tell me to pay for a small fee, but no. This morning (not even within 12 hrs), I received an email from them saying that they already sent the replacement by air mail! Now, that's what I call fast service!
Now I have to wait for the film to arrive from Czech Republic.....
At 1:30, I went to the dentist to get an onlay and a crown seated. The dental assistants were nice and were actually talking to me about jobs and stuff. They had some trouble with my crown but it yielded soon with the help of Dr Davis. I would say he knows his work pretty well (he calls himself "the master"). Too bad he didnt have any more of the dental xray films.
After that, I just freshened up a lil. With half my face still numb, I went to target for my target training. I got my employee number and finally was able to log in. However, I was informed that the identification cards I submitted weren't enough for them so I have to show them a proof that I am able to work. More on this later. I just watched some DVDs about being a nice cashier, informing guests about the Target Visa and selling alcohol. I had a test about the alcohol stuff and I failed the first time. I would wanna blame the mediocre and inconsistent learning packet but I didn't tell them about the inconsistencies I found... maybe I would later. I just memorized, or better yet, familiarized myself with the answers and retook until I get 100% (requirement is 80%). After that, I was directed to my GSTL (which the meaning escapes me for now) Shaun and he let me train with Michelle. I basically just watched her cashier the whole time but she would let me do it from time to time. Being new, I got pretty bad ratings from the register (it gives rating "G" for good and "R" for red for every transaction) but I think I got pretty used to it and fairly comfortable doing it after a while (tho I would say I still need to work on my method and system). I think I don't need perfection in the field I am not specializing on. I am a sales floor representative, not a cashier. I just trained with this in case they needed some backup ppl when the time comes. I did it until about 9 PM. I was only supposed to be there until 8. It's my frist day of training and I am already showing signs of my absent-mindedness.
About the paperwork, The Dept of Homeland Security denied my Employment Authorizattion D renewal (EAD) because my Greencard was already approved. I dunno if they would accept this.... Haaay... I kinda think I shouldn't be stressing about this but it's just annoying to think that I would lose my first job from a stupid technicality I have no control over.
Anyway, I got to talk to Katter because I got earlier than I first thought (I though my timewas until 10). It wasn't very long tho. The night was long and I was pretty bored and a lil depressed for some reason. Prolly just tired from work.
This morning was terrible. After waking around 3:45AM, me and Papa set out to go to the INS office in Dallas for our fingerprinting. We arrived at around five but it opens at 6:30 so I entertained myself with some modeling reference materials or chatting with him about Philippine politics (this is the only way I get mature, intelligent civil conversations with him). Around 6, a lady came out of the building and declared that they don't accept walk in "customers" anymore. For three weeks now, they only accept applicants that set up an appointment date and time. they don't care if you are the first in line (as the first system was). Translation: we wasted time and effort preparing for this crap.
I dunno why they didn't mention any of this in the notice they sent us? Nor did the lawyer notified us of this. Owell.... I wouldn't be surprised if the 9/11 bombers were applying for immigration once, woke up really early but ended up being turned down because of the policy that nobody knows. Yep.. makes you mad alright.
After getting home, I immediately uised my sister's compy to set up the appointment at www.USCIS.gov. It was 4th of June, 6:30 AM. I made a mistake so I canceled the appointment but it didnt let me made another one. I did the one for my dad and it was successful. I tried several times but it wouldn't let me. My dad was nagging and muttering bullshit (he always think that he knows something about everything in this world even tho he is freakin clueless.. u gotta hear it to believe it...) This annoyed me very much so I retired to my room, played some games and returned to retry the gov site again after about an hour. It worked. Thank goodness.
After that, I chatted with Doval and Marillete. I also played some pingpong at www.addictinggames.com. I also tried their Insaniquarium and I should say it is really addictive. I still have the last level on my computer. Try it!
The next couple hours leaves me pondering how in the world "Bloodsport" didn't win any Oscar. These are the reasons the quality martial arts movie should have been the major award-horder of it's time:
- Everyone in Hong Kong knows english. This is a very accurate representation of this British-colonized island.
- Any movie that has "Son of a betch, Is that enough for you?" should receive an award for sciptwriting.
- Mukhang totoy si Van Damme.
- Any movie that shows Van Damme's ass should receive an award for cinematic taste.
- Any movie that shows that it's okay for a white male to assault Asian police officers (but avoid hurting his fellow american cops) shows impartiality in reality snd should receive at least a "congratulations" from the ppl who set up the Oscars
- Any movie that shows blood and gore thru the exhibition of play-doh prosthetics should receive a "Best in Special Effects" award.. or at least a nomination.
- The acting is superb *squirms*
- Any movie with the main charater names "DUX" guarantees that it kicks ass
After these thoughts (and watching the movie on HBO), I conceded that they didn't deserve any Oscars. The next movie however, is what I would consider "good." "Star Trek: First Contact" somehow woke up the trekkie in me. I like the plot, story and sciptwriting. I wonder why those Trekkies are so maligned if they only immerse themselves in high-quality material like this (no sarcasm this time). This movie gives me a desire to watch other Star Trek movie I can come across with.
Hmm.. This is getting too long. Till next time.
