Freaky Friday

Just got home from the Volunteers Banquet. I got three awards!!! actually, just two but the other is like a certificate of appreciation to all members. the other is the 25-hour Club which is a keychain for those who completed the 25-hour volunteer requirement. The other (and the most prestigious, I suppose) is the "Most Valuable Volunteer Award" It's my second consecutive year of receiving this honor and I totally doesnt expect to get it.... Also, I got a nice little clock given to those who served as officers. I felt so appreciated. They did a good job this year. about 20 ppl came (even tho those ppl I invited didn't =( ). Owell. There is a next time. =)

The Volunteers makes me feel so good about me. I know this sounds selfish but owell.

Actually, the day didnt start out that great. I FUCKED up the Fluids Quiz. how, I dunno up to now... I will probably find out next week. So, as what I normally do, I went to the office to hang out . There was Anjenique and Seth working on the Certificates (I didnt know I will get the "Most Valuable Volunteer" thing but I saw my name on another certificate). Then I got bored so I just decided to distribute the Toy Drive boxes (We are having a Summer Toy Drive that we will donate to the Boys and Girls Club) and post the posters. It took me about an hour to do those (I posted the last two at the Activities Building so I had to cross the bridge and stuff).

Afterwards I hung out with Jan at Ransom and did some programming (I did some plots of simultaneous differential equations using the Euler Method in C and Gnuplot! They were chaotic and are quite cool!) . After checking with Dr. Nomura, me and Jan went to Half-Price Books. I saw an M4 Sherman Tamiya Reference CD-ROM. They got it for $10 but Im pretty sure they have it for $50 in shops. i didnt have enough money so I got it on hold until Tuesday. Yay. Ill get it next week, prolly.

We went back to The school, I got dressed with my fabulous turtleneck shirt in Jan's room and then I went to Ransom to talk to my Katter. Then I also confirmed my theory (The $50 CD ROM) and read some reviews. Then... at 7:30, we left fot the Banquet. we got lost but it we finally got there thnx to the Seth Hotline. Then you know the story after that.

And Also!! My last name is a place in Spain!!!!

HAHA! Yebra, Espana!

=)

Today was pretty dull but i would consider it as one of my better ones. This afternoon, I got calls from my mom while i was in my Engineering analysis class so I called her back. She has good news: our greencard was approved yesterday! YAY!! so now, it will be a bit easier to apply for scholarships and jobs. However, we paid for $120 for the renewal of my Employmoent Authorization Document (EAD -- im not 100% on the "D"... could also be Dragonslayer or Dloits) which I havent received yet. Since I am considered an immigrant now, I wouldn't be needing that to get jobs. I told my mom to pursue a refund. We'll see....

Speaking of jobs, I got a contingent job offer from Target. I applied last Sunday when me and my sister were shopping around for bathroom themes. It was unsuspected but still a welcome surprise. I got interviewed by two ppl today (Paul and Buffy) and those turned out great. The offer was contingent upon the drug screening (which I took today by peeing into a cup at PrimaCare on Main St) and a background check, both of which, I don't have much worries for I don't have secret vices or whatnot.

...Or do I? *preens chin and invisible beard* ... hmmm...

I hope I do good on my first job on Flower Mound Target sales floor. . I need y'all's prayers.

The name "City of Flower Mound" sounds weird. It's too gay for a city.

I have a Solids test tomorrow but I havent studied yet. Instead, I did 6/10 of the FLuids HW and the Material Sceince. I also had a nice convo with Kat, as always....

Anyway, gotta jet to review and get some sleep....

Politics and Catholicism

Anyone who would have known me for a significant amount of time and had a political conversation with me would have known that I dislike the Bush administration. I don't like Dubya's policies in the Iraq War (particularly attacking and killing enemy troops and civilians alike just because he was "afraid" they might do something to his "great country"). For this reason, I considered myself a democrat. The Republicans are just full of crap to even support this man.

For this reason also that I had a self-agreed conclusion that I should support any Democratic candidate to topple Bush over. I believed that men against his policies are of the more sensible kind. It turned out that the Democratic presidential bet is John Kerry.

In my mind, I supported Kerry. I thought that he has good policies and is intelliigent enough to oppose the Iraq war. Then one day, I was cleaning up my email when I saw a junk mail from NARAL Pro-choice America that proclaim their support for Kerry because his pro-abortion platform. I was aghast. I wouldn't have thought I would want a guy to "lead" a country. I shared this news to Gustavo a friend of mine. From him, I found out that Kerry himself is Catholic.

How can that be? How can a Catholic politician openly support the murder of babies? How can he, with the honor and grace of that title proclaim that such slaughter should be allowed and be made more accesible?

Votes, of course.

Of course, being Catholic in America (or USA, since "America" encompasses two continents) also means being in a minority. Yes, this is a land where it is legal to kill your baby if you don't think it is not human but it is considered double-murder if you kill a pregnant mother with the fetus in her. That means also that to be a liberal Cathpolic, you "have" to divert from the doctrines of your church.

Because of this also that several Bishops alsready declared they would deny communion to politicians who openly promotes sin. Some bishops have not and thi is brewing some scandal. Some people took this as the church's meddling with the politics. Those people, of course, are those that don't thoroughly understand Catholic beliefs.

Number one, The Catholic Church is a pro-life Church. That means that it hold up Human Life to a high esteem, be it you, me or that zygote inside a mother's womb.

Secondly, the clergy (the Pope, priests and bishops) have the DUTY to serve their flock. That means that, out of love, they should let members of their congregations to turn away from sin. I should note and stress on the fact that this is done out of LOVE, not politicking. It would be more porper for them to do so than to just sit there and watch people use the church as a prop for the set of their polical play.

Lastly, if someone commits a grave sin, that person loses communion with the church. support of abortion is such a sin. This loss of communion (or connection) means that he will be disqualified from receiving the sacraments and the sacrament of communion (the Eucharist - bread and wine: body and blood) is one of these. It signifies that people should turn away the sin and come back to the churche's embrace. The Church doesn't condemn anyone to hell but warns them of what could happen if they don't repent. Again, this is not done out of hatred or greed but out of love.

John Kerry knows very well that he can get renegade Catholic votes but the chances of him getting devout Catholic votes are close to nil. This is why he talked to the liberal Theodore Cardinal McCarrick to get more votes. This disgusts me to no end. How dare he use Catholicism to further his goals?!?!?

Now, I guess I would have no choice to either just be contented with Bush. At least, he is the lesser evil.

Silo.. Sylo.. Xylo.. Xylophone

II got this thing from Kat and it was interesting. What Concert Band Instrument Are You?

Too bad it thinks the "PC" is an operating system... owell.

Here is my result.

What Concert Band Instrument Are You?

Xylophone

You require a true master to get to know you. You are difficult and frustrating to deal with; but, when dealing with the right person, you are an incredible asset to any group.

Poetic rectification

My day started out not-so-good because I woke up exactly 7:01 AM. we didnt have milk so i ate "raw" (or unmilked) Coco Puffs (pinapak ko sya).

Crunchy!

Altho I was unsure of one problem, I finished my Solids HW so that was ok.

Materials Science was Ok. As usualy, we were dismissed over 30 minutes in advance. I am having doubts if Dr. Johnson knows that the class schedule goes for 1 hr and 20 minutes. Well, I don't want to be the one to correct him.

I went to the Volunteers office and freaked out after finding out that the Big Event" was last Saturday. i remembered signing up for that one but I didnt go. I thought it was on May 1st but it turned that the activity then will be the Arlington Community Fair. I still feel bad not knowing. I feel like I was a bad member of the Volunteers.

Seth showed me this Maddox guy's website. It was quite funny especially his Crappy Kids' Artworks Page

Oh yeah, I wrote another program for Engineering Analysis. Go here to check it out. Also, Check out my alternate webpage if you haven't yet.

My mom got out of the hospital today! Yipee!

That happens sometimes.

Last Friday, I went to the cancer center with my mom so she can get her medication thingie. The nurse tested her bloodcount and it was extraordinarily low so she said that if she ever have a fever that hits 100 degrees (Fahrenheit), she should go to the emergency room. Oddly enough, she did yesterday afternoon so she was admitted at the Lewisville Medical Center. He's still there right now so i brought her some stuff (her tsinelas, rosary, a book, reading glasses, cellphone and charger). I just hung out a lil and then ate some of te stuff she doesnt wanna eat and did Solids HW. Fun stuff.

And the guard locked ppl in because it was past nine.

Anyway, last friday, I had a not-so-good Fluids test. I think I did poorly than I could have done. At home I talked to Katter. Im just a stupid kid. Owell.

Saturday, I just washed and vacuumed the car and covered some books. for some reason, I really enjoy covering my books. I love making them look new even tho they are butt old. Also, it assures me that I am not transmitting my oily residue upon the cover. F*ck the pages. I can't do anything to protect those.

Alsto, My dad FORCED me to go to his Knights of Columbus function as his replacement. Kinda resentful but helpless, I still went without knowing what exactly will we do (Even tho those guys with Knights of Columbus vests asking for money in the streets should have given me a clue). I talked to one of their "leaders" and he told me that they are going to hand out water and stuff to those asking for money for FOUR HOURS. I wouldn't mind doing that (well, maybe a lil because I would be the youngest person there) except that my medication prohibits me from spending extended periods of time in the sunlight. hehe... lucky bastard me.

Today, I just watched TV, did some Solids HW in the hospital and while hanging out with my mom and went to church. I also talked to kat which is ALWAYS interesting ;). I love Katter.

Ok, Im goin to finish up Fluids HW now.

The Good 'Ol Free Body Diagram

I had another dentist appointment. They are supposed to seat a crown and 2 onlays today but two of them "won't work." I had to seat in the chair for 1 1/2 hours but have to come back in a month so they can redo the umm.. stuff. I got also some infection of some sort so the dentist prescribed some Doxycycline. It says the side effects include sensitivity to sunlight.

Cool. Vampire Mark.

I have a Fluids test tomorrow.... Not so worried about it. Actually, I just kinda lost my enthusiam on i after getting low grades on tests I worked really hard for. It is just odd how my enthusiasm and quality of work declines exponentially during a semester. I just want this to be over.

I got a 92 on my materials test tho...

Owell, im gonna go to eat dinner and take medication now.

Do y'all know Katter calls me Markker? cute huh?

HAPPY 12th MONTHSARY!!!

YEP! You guys are right. Today is me and Katter's FIRST YEAR ANNIVERSARY of being officially "together" (in spirit, at least). I've never expected we would come through this. Katter Hunnie, I love you so much and you mean ALOT to me. never forget that! MWAHH!!!!

This week has been "OK." Except for Materials Science test yesterday, it wasn't too busy. In Engineering analysis, we're doing cgi script programming. It was quite fun. We were even required to publish our webpage on omega (the UTA server for estudyantes' webpages). This is my alternate homepage to the geocities one. Don't forget to check out my "Ultra Random Number" and "Super Seconds Counter" pages inside =D.

Today is Good Friday. This morning, when I was driving to school, the local roads were practically empty. This made me miss how things are back home. There, all the streets are emptied in holy week (Semana Santa). Everything is closed because it's a national holiday. Here, I think declaring it a national holiday would be unconstitutional so school districts just place it on time with the spring break. tsk tsk tsk. The classses were cancelled tho, noon today. Gee.. that is really helpful when you only have one morning class at 10:00 on Fridays.....

I miss the Philippines...

I miss my friends...

I miss the Filipino way of life...

I miss Katter...

Accckk... Katter!! I love you!!!!

Happy Anniversary!! MWAH MWAH MWAH!

ummm..... ciao!

Your weird!

Today was ok. It was my last Engineering Analysis 1 lab so it was fun. Actually, this week is the last week for ALL my labs (actually just BOTH of them). Yesterday was for my Measurements lab and that was pretty funcky. We don't have to do the experiment but me and Shane decided e would just to get the chances of getting a better grade (it may replace the lowest grade).

I got nominated for several positions in the Volunteers Exec Board today! Yay! I am not sure about actually running tho. I wanna serve with them but I would be taking 18 hours next sem. I may not be able to do it.... Owell..

Speaking of credit hours, I was supposed to take 6 hours in the summer: Thermodynamics and DiffeQ (Differential Equations and Linear Algebra). However, they are offered at the same time so I can take only one. I seeked Dr Seath's help (my academic adviser) and he said I should take Thermo this summer and take Diffe-Q next fall with my other engineering subjects. Pondering about this, I don't think I will have time to read books for a lit class (I am planning to take Monsters), so I changed it into a history class and Im also taking Pol Sci in the summer with thermo. Man.... This would be a very busy sem...

I have been browsing the Funny Junk website when I found the Flash Mind Reader. After a couple of tries, i got both amazed (and I mean AMAZED) and frustrated. Kat suggested that I research so I did.

This is the result... Please don't read before trying it out several times. I leave the comments to you. =)

Anyway, I'm supposed to be doing Measurments HW.... till next time!

La la la la

Last night, we had a social with the Volunteers. We saw "Taking Lives" which was pretty nice. Nothing special actually but it was fun. Only 6 people came: Seth, Roger, Anjenique, Vincent, Sarah and of course, yours truly. Not too many but better than previous social events.

For some reason, I've been feeling down lately. I dunno why. Prolly it because of the stress from school and family. owell. It's just too easy to get tired of my life. im suffocating.

Oh yeah, and I almost forgot, it's the 2nd anniversary of my arrival to the US. wala lang. I thought you would want to know. Now, I'm going back to watch "Wanted: President" on inq7.net.
